    1) While Ember and Chase continue to drive to the carrier they stop in the Red Zone to pick up supplies, but when they return back to the car some civilians are there and they get into a fight. After driving off, Ember wants to sneak away from Chase because she is scared of him, but ends up trusting a crazy lady and Chase comes to her rescue; they leave and go to the carrier’s location, but no one is there so they make themselves comfortable and prepare to wait for his return.
    2) I think it was idiotic of Ember to run away from Chase and trust a woman off the street; I don’t like that she is acting so selfish and mindlessly.
    3) Ember asks Chase about her mother, Lori, and how she looked and was feeling when he left Lori to pick Ember at the rehabilitation center. Chase replies with little elaboration and this frustrates Ember. “‘Don’t give me too many details, okay? I don’t think I’ll be able to handle it.’ I crossed my arms over my chest,” Ember says sarcastically to Chase (Simmons 134). Here you can see Ember is irritated with Chase because he is not providing Ember with adequate answers. “How did she seem? Was she scared?” Ember asks nervously (Simmons 135). Ember is very concerned her mother’s condition and state of mind.
    4) When Chase and Ember get into a fight with the two civilians robbing their truck, Ember does not listen to what Chase is telling her to do and this makes the situation more dangerous for everyone resulting with multiple injuries. If I was Ember I would listen to Chase because he was part of the MM so he is trained and he is a large man that can fend for himself therefore, Ember shouldn't have kept distracting and disobeying him especially, since less than a year ago they were in a serious relationship.

    Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
    Pgs 147-218

Tally managed to get through a dangerous and rough journey to finally meet Shay at The Smoke. She was overwhelmed when she saw all the different type of uglies that ran away to live there because they weren't just young uglies, but even old uglies and middle aged uglies. I was upset when Tally lied to Shay about why she finally came to The Smoke. She made Shay believe that she was there because she finally realized she didn't want to be pretty anymore and she missed her but Shay didn't know the real reason was that she was a spy. When Shay introduced Tally to her friend, David, it made her rethink whether she should activate her pendant to inform Dr.Cable about Shay's location. David told Tally more about his life and how he was born in The Smoke. Tally was surprised because she didn't think it was possible for uglies to reproduce. '"No, Tally, I told you: They're doctors.' said David. A shock ran through her. This was more stunning than the felled trees or the cruel pretties; as overwhelming as anything she'd felt since Peris had gone away. 'They reversed the operation?' Tally asked. 'Yes.' replied David. 'They cut each other? Out here in the wild? To make themselves...' Her throat closed at the word, as if she was going to gag. 'No. They didn't use the surgery'" (Westerfeld 218). Tally realizes that everything David had and grew up to was in The Smoke and it was like home to him. She knew that if she activated her pendant now, then Dr. Cable would burn their city. David caused Tally to overthink her decision and do what is right. If I were in Tally's position, I would have told Shay about the pendant and what Dr. Cable was forcing her to do. This way, Shay wouldn't know before so she wouldn't get as mad if she found out when Tally would activate it.

    The Program by Suzanne Young

    1) In this section, Sloane starts to lose her memories, especially about James, Miller, Lacey and Brady. Sloane has become very dependent on a boy also in the Program named Realm; he is very protective of her. There is a handler, Roger, in the Program building who offers Sloane a pill that will allow her to keep her memories but he gives it to her in exchange for a kiss. Roger sexually assaults Sloane.
    2) I was surprised Sloane took the memory pill from Roger. Sloane is a smart girl and she should have known that using the pill to hold on to one memory would put her in danger, not only from Roger’s sexual advances, but from taking a pill given to her by a disgusting man.
    3) Dialogue passage:
Dr. Warren: “Here.” She offers me a yellow pill. “Take it. Empower yourself, sweetheart. It’ll make everything right.”
    Sloane: “Go to hell.”
In this passage, Sloane is rejecting a pill from a doctor that will make her feel better. She’s rejecting the drug because she knows it will take her memories away and she would prefer her memories over a feeling of false happiness. Sloane’s defiance and strength is shown when she says, “go to hell,” to a doctor who can forcibly administer drugs. Even in the short passage, Sloane exhibits her strength that is prevalent even though her memories are not. In the beginning of the story, Sloane didn’t seem like a very strong person and seemed too dependent on her boyfriend. The doctor offering the pill comments on this and Sloane curses at her, again showing her strength when someone she loves is blatantly made fun of by a person of power. Sloane is a stronger character than she seems.
    4) If I were Sloane, I would try to keep my head down in the Program. Since she started in the Program, Sloane has cause a lot of trouble and has said many things that could get her flagged for a longer stay in the Program. If I were her, I would just try to slip through the Program without really making a name for myself unlike Sloane did.

    1) In the book “2012”, there is a flyer that has Martin Trevor Winters wanted by the government. Martin is then locked up in jail. As Martin is being transferred, he sees an opportunity to escape and he does just that. While Martin is on the run, he is also looking for his son, Trevor. Later on, Wylie’s son, Nick, finds clues that Trevor has been in their house and Wylie is brainstorming about ideas to help Martin find his son.
    2) The main character Wylie has become more demented than before. He wrote a book about aliens invading Earth on his laptop and tries to delete it. My reaction to Wylie trying to delete the book from his computer was astonished because when he couldn’t erase the book from his computer, he took a hatchet and literally destroyed the entire laptop. I am in between for liking and not liking this character for two reasons. One, Wylie does things without thinking it through (the hatchet and the laptop) which I dislike. Two, Wylie acknowledges what he is doing and how it is affecting his family, so he tries to make them feel better by hugging them
    3) “Oh this is nonsense. Here’s your book right here.” said Brooke.
    “Erase it.” said Wylie.
    “I will not!” said Brooke.
    “Excuse me?” said Wylie
“I am personally at the end of my tether with you. I can’t handle this anymore. How dare you bring me up here and terrorize me playing games like this. We could lose everything! End up on the street! I’m sick of being the wife of the rich writer who is actually poor.” said Brooke.
Obviously, these lines show that Wylie won’t listen to his wife, Brooke. But, more importantly these lines reveal that this alien book is causing Wylie not to think clearly. Wylie makes his living by writing books. Why would you want to erase a book that you’re almost finished with writing just to start all over? In Wylie’s mind, he believes that the book he wrote about aliens is coming true on Earth because there have been sightings of UFO’s and people are disappearing.
    4) If I was the character Trevor in this book, I would be contacting many people about finding my family because what kid would just continue wandering off when the world as they know it is coming to an end in the next ten days? Trevor is going in houses taking stuff from people without them knowing it and walking it out. You would think that Trevor would want to spend his supposed “last ten days on Earth” with his family and friends.

In the story Darrow has met and befriended other Golds on the way to the Institute now that he has been accepted to the Institute, which is the Academy that trains Golds o be future leaders, but to get into the Insitute they first have to go through "The Passage" where they have to kill another student to survive and go through to the next test. Darrow has to kill a boy he met Julian even after he befriended both Julian and his twin brother Cassius, Darrow is then put into House of Mars, other students are put into other houses based on their skills, he and the other fifty Golds are put into a valley with castles with their sole purpose of one House taking over all the other Houses by making them slaves. Whoever suceeds in leading the House will be called Primus, head leader, and get fame and glory. Darrow ruthlessly killed Julien which was sad but you have to think that if you faced someone who represents all you have never had, you might be angry and bloodthirsty as well. "I don't want to do this. I can't explain how badly I don't want to hurt Julien. But when has what I wanted ever mattered? My people need this. Eo sacrificed happiness and her life. I can sacrificed my wants. I can sacrifice this slender princeling. I can even sacrifice my soul...Darrow was kind in Lykos. I am not. I hate myself for it,"(Brown 147). This reveals that Darrow even though he ruthlessly killed Julien, deep down hates himsel and deperately wants to go back to being kind and oblivious as he was in Lykos. The dialogue is about Darrow killing Julien and how he was sacrificing the only thing that he had left which was his soul, he is still doing all this for Eo. If I were in Darrow's shoes I would be empty because I would know that to survive and to let Eo's dream live on, I would need to kill Julien even if it took my soul to do so because we sacrifice everything for loved ones don't we?

In the story Stephen stole some medicine from the Green family and hid it in the woods to trade it later. On his first day of school he received a note from Jenny saying “I saw what you buried in the woods last night” (Hirsch110). Once school got let out one of Stephens new friends Derrick ran up to him and asked Stephen if he wanted to play baseball. Stephen told Derrick to leave him alone but Derrick was persistent. Derrick kept asking Stephen if he wanted to play and finally Stephen shoved Derrick so hard he slammed into the ground. This surprised me because Stephen is a pretty calm kid, although I am starting to not like as much because he acted so brash. Stephen ran back to the Greens house and there his view of America changed. Stephen thought that America was stupid and had too much fun instead of working to protect itself from the Chinese. ‘“My Grandfather would say it was like square dancing on the Titanic’, said Stephen” (Hirsch 116). Violet protested back by saying that those good times were nice and it was good to have fun while you could. ‘“And that made the world a better a little better. Not perfect but better’, Exclaimed Violet” (Hirsch117). After hearing this Stephen became happier and decided he was going to play baseball with Derrick and everyone else. If I was Stephen I would not and have gone and played baseball. I would have done this because I wouldn’t be sure if Derrick still liked me and got every one else to turn on me.

Sloane is still in The Program, and she tries her hardest to keep her memories from fading; what she doesn’t know until a little later is that the pills she is taking are the ones that are taking away her memories. When Sloane learns this, she tries to resist the pills, but fails; a handler gives her a pill that lets her hold onto one memory. A friend of Sloane’s later tells her that the memory will not be useful unless she has other memories. When Sloane kept refusing to take the pills, and then forcefully had to take them, I got a little angry. Sloane could have faked taking the pills, and she may be fine. What surprised me was when Sloane doesn’t remember who James was. I thought that that would be one of the only memories that she remembered. When Sloane goes to one therapy session, a new pill is given to her. Thinking that it will help her, Sloane takes it. “‘I’m sorry for all you’ve been through, Sloane,’ she says like she means it. ‘You should take a moment to say good-bye.’
I furrow my brow. ‘Good-bye to who?’
‘James.’ (Young 212). After the therapy session, the doctor tells Sloane to say goodbye to James. Sloane remembers him now, but knows that once she falls asleep, she won’t. She becomes scared and angry, and wants to remember James. If I was Sloane, I would have pretended to take the pill. I wouldn’t want to lose my memories, and I would pretend to swallow the pill. Sloane knew what the pills did, and she could easily act along. If I were her, I would have been able to answer questions, but I would also be able to keep my memories without anyone knowing.

    The Hunger Games
The games are about to begin and everyone is getting interviewed just before the games. The games start and people have already died but Katniss and Peeta are still alive. When Peeta said that he had a crush on her she reacted right because even though she was a little embarrassed she didn’t show it. When Caesar interviews her she gets the crowd to cheer for her. This shows that she’s smart because she knows it’s good to have the crowd on your side and she’s confident because she’s making herself look good. “’I have to, I’m dizzy!’ I’m also giggling, which I think I’ve done maybe never in my lifetime”(Collins 128). This shows that she is brave because even though she could die soon, she’s laughing. If I was Katniss and Peeta said that he had a crush on my in front of everyone, I would have done what she did. She made sure that she looked professional in front of everyone and not shown that she was embarrassed.

    Maze Runner Blog part 3
    1) In this section, Thomas helps Minho and the two of them are able to make it out of the Maze alive, along with Alby who is brought back with the Serum. Thomas learns more about himself and the girl in the coma, is brought to trial because he went in the Maze as a non-runner, and gets ready to start his training to become a runner.
    2) Something Thomas did in this section was learn more about why he recognized the place he was in, the Glade, that he and the girl were somehow the reason for the Maze to exist, which made Thomas seem bad but really he was mad that he would ever partake in such a crime.
    3) A good section of dialogue to reveal more facts about Thomas was when he was 'talking' to Theresa, the girl in the coma. This dialogue, located on pages 183 and 184, is very important, because Theresa explains to Thomas that he is the one who caused the Maze to be created, well both of them, together, did. It's clear that Thomas doesn't want anything to do with what Theresa is explaining to him. For example, "Everything is going to change, she said. He wanted to scream, run until he could run no more," (Dashner 184). Thomas doesn't want to listen to what Theresa has to say because he doesn't want to believe what she is saying.
    4) If I were the one to be blamed for everything that had happened to the boys in the Glade, I would be ashamed of myself and also scared for my safety. Because of the changing, some of the kids would know of what I had done, and I wouldn't want to be blamed for something I didn't remember doing.

    Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
In this section of the Uglies Tally journeys to the Smoke to find her friend Shay and the others, on her way there she overcomes many obstacles almost plummeting into a roaring river or nearly getting burned to death. Shay and her friends find Tally and believe that she is there to join them and not to turn them into special circumstances so together they all make their way to the Smoke. I’m starting to like Tally a little bit more because she’s hesitating in giving up the location of the Smoke. “Croy frowned. “It took a while for the rangers to find you, didn’t it?” “I guess so. And they almost roasted me when they did. They were doing a huge burn that got out of control.” “Really? Whoa.” Shay’s friends looked impressed. “My board almost burned I had to jump in the river,”’ (Westerfeld 197). Here Tally is telling Shay and her friends everything she went through to reach them. She was surprised at the fact that she was enjoying being there and receiving all their attention, she compared it to telling everyone at her dorm about a successful trick, but that it was even better since she had actually survived many near death situations. This dialog shows that Tally was actually starting to enjoy herself at the Smoke with the others and was glad she hadn’t activated the pendant that would share their location just yet. If I were Tally I would spend a little more time with everyone and if nothing changes and it’s still as great as it seems then I would destroy the pendant and join the members of the Smoke for real.

1.) All initiates and transfers are going through the second set of trials to become Dauntless; the second set of trials is simulations that you need to face your fear of. Tris takes her simulations and completes both of them but because of her actions she took in them, Four discovers she is Divergent.

2.) Tris cares a lot about her friends which makes me really like her.

3.)She has a conversation with Four, a trainer of Dauntless about her second simulation she has for initiation. " 'What?' I demand. 'You're Divergent,' he replies...I lean back, pressing my shoulders to the wall, and say, 'What's Divergent?' 'Don't play stupid,' he says. 'I suspected it last time, but this time it's obvious. You manipulated the simulation; you're Divergent..' "(Roth 255). Four finds out she is Divergent from the simulations which she was trying to hide. This dialogue shows how she is not being herself so she can't be caught. This may cause problems in the near future.

4.) If I were Tris I would have told Four that Peter killed Edward that night in the dorm. She was too afraid but I would have since that is not very acceptable behavior.

    Delirium by Lauren Oliver

In this section of the book, Lena starts to spend more time with Alex because he has been cured so it is safe for the two of them to be around each other; while they were at the beach Alex revealed to Lena that he never got the procedure and the scars on his neck are fake and Lena stops talking to him. Lena also has her redo-evaluation and she gets an eight and is matched with Brian Scharff after graduation. Lena runs into Hana one day but Lena is still mad at Hana for going against the rules; when the raiders come, Lena still rushes to Hana’s house to warn her not to go to the party. When Lena reads Alex’s apology note that she found in the statue, I wasn’t surprised that she didn’t forgive him. Alex lied about something big so he needs to regain Lena’s trust. “But the boots pass us by. Rachel heaves out an audible sigh of relief as we hear the regulators pound on a door farther down the street,” (Oliver 203). They are having a raid night where officials go around and enter the houses of suspicious people. If they are asked to step out of their house the people who live in that house need to have their identification papers ready with them. Lena was worried about Hana because she was at one of her parties that night so Lena wanted to try and stop her from leaving her house if she hadn’t left for the party yet, even if she was mad at her friend. If I was Lena, I would’ve tried to warn Hana just like she did. I would’ve felt guilty if one of my closest friends got into trouble and I could’ve prevented it from happening. I was also surprised that Lena when to Hana’s house though, because Lena was very careful with everything she did, but this shows that she is slowly changing.

2.) I do still like my character due to her will to impress the rest of her faction, she showed this when she jumped and trusted her faction to catch her and relied on them.
3.) A conversation Tris has with Four after her first simulation begins to show Four's true "feelings" for her. After the simulation is over, Four gives Tris advice as to her reaction after the simulation. He explains that, "'Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it, that's the point," (Roth, 239)

Equality 7-2521 discovers electricity. They are not sure what to do with the electricity and who they should tell. One night they go into the tunnel to experiment with the new power and lose track of time. When the council questions them, they refuse to say anything and are subsequently sent to the Correctional facility to be lashed until they speak about where they were. They soon escape and bring the light to the National council. once the members learn they are street sweepers, they are not impressed and tell Equality 7-2521 that the box must be destroyed and to stick to sweeping streets. If I was in Equality 7-2521’s shoes, I would not have told the council first, I would have told the scholars so then the council would approve of the light box. “ Our greetings to you, our honores brothers of the world council of scholars!”. “ Who are you, our brother? For you do not look like a scholar.” “ Our name is Equality 7-2521” we answered, and we are the streetsweeper of this city.” Then it was as if a great wind had stricken the hall, for all the scholars spoke at once, and they were all angry and frightened. “ A street sweeper! A street sweeper walking in upon the World Council of scholars! It was not to be believed! It was against all the rules and all the laws!”. I think this section of dialogue shows Equality 7-2521’s determination to get this new source of light used because it shows that they are willing to go against all laws in order for their discovery to be realized.

    1) The Crims’ plan of breaking the ice had succeeded and now they get to celebrate. Shay realizes that Tally and Zane have been acting different ever since they climbed the Valentino Mansion. Tally tells Shay about the cure and how they took it and Shay gets very mad and stops talking to Tally because Shay wished she had given her the other pill and she was mad that Tally kept that secret from her. Tally and Zane take a ride on hoverboards over the river near Uglyville and find Shay and a group of people cutting themselves in the freezing rain. Tally figures that this is Shay's "new cure."
    2) I was surprised that Tally told Shay the truth about the cure. I get that she owed Shay, but telling people about it is a big deal and her and Zane kept a promise to not tell anyone.
    3) Dr. Cable interrupts Tally when Tally is walking through the woods. At first Tally doesn’t remember her but then memories come flooding back to her and she remembers that Dr. Cable is part of the Special Circumstances.
“You should see the world as I see it, Tally.”
“You’re offering me a… job? As a Special?”
“Not a job. A whole new being.” Dr. Cable said each word with deliberate care. “You can be one of us,” (Westerfeld 126).
Dr. Cable has seen the way Tally has been acting and all the tricks she has planted and wants Tally to become a part of the Special Circumstances. Tally says no because she has already done a lot for Dr. Cable in the past and doesn’t want anything to do with her.
"All I ask is that you think about it. Take your time deciding – it’s all the same to me,” Dr. Cable says. (Westerfeld 129)
    4) If I were put in Tally’s shoes, I wouldn’t have told Shay about the cure just yet. The cure is a big deal and it is life threatening to everyone. Tally and Zane promised each other that they would keep it to themselves, and Tally didn’t do just that.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

    1) After receiving her score from the Gamemakers, Katniss has to be interviewed by Caesar Flickerman in front of the citizens of the Capitol. She pleases the audience, and explains that she promised her sister she would atleast try to return home. Soon enough, the next day Katniss is being readied for the Hunger Games, and she says her final goodbyes to her prep team. An aircraft takes her to the arena, and there she is lifted into the starting area of the games, or the Cornucopia. As the games start, eleven tributes are killed in the bloodbath that takes place at the Cornucopia. Katniss escapes with a backpack and some food, and sets out on a couple days journey to find water. After she finds water, the Gamemakers engineer a storm of fireballs, and one harshly injures Katniss. In severe pain, Katniss encounters the Career Tributes, and she climbs a tree to survive. Now, she is planning on cutting down a trackerjacker nest, which will fall onto the sleeping tributes.
    2) Katniss is still a likeable character, as she even admitted to the whole nation that she is fearful that she won't be able to return home to her sister. Plus, she has done her best to survive in the arena, to almost ensure survival until she crosses another deadly tribute.
    3) While climbing the tree to avoid the enraged Career Tributes, Katniss sarcastically asks how they are doing, hoping to gain sponsors in the Capitol. Being charming and funny can lead to more sponsors for a tribute, allowing Katniss to possibly receive medical help whenever she needs it. Soon after, she receives some burn cream from a sponsor, which she uses to heal her leg. As you can see, Katniss is doing everything she can to survive, even to the point of acting for the pleasure of the Capitol. "Now I smile. "How's everything with you?" I call down cheerfully. This takes them aback, but I know the crowd will love it. "Well enough," says the boy from District 2. "Yourself?" "It's been a bit warm for my taste," I say. I can almost hear the laughter from the Capitol." (Collins 181).
    4) If I were Katniss when the games first began, I would have also headed for the woods instead of going for the weapons and risking my own death. It was very smart of Katniss to get a head start in the woods, and it could have been her best decision in the games.

    1) In this section of the book, Tally sets out to go find Shay so she can be made pretty when she turns the people that live in the Smoke in. As she makes her journey she faces some difficult terrain but survives and meets up with Shay. When she gets to the Smoke, Shay explains many new concepts to her and Tally struggles to open the pendant and send the signal back to Dr.Cable. Shay doesn’t know the real reason why Tally came to the Smoke.
    2) When Tally gets to the Smoke and is in the library with Shay she open the hear pendant necklace to send a signal to Dr.Cable but is caught by Shay. She is about to tell her the truth about why she really came to the Smoke but is interrupted by the Boss. This surprised me because I didn’t think that Tally was so heartless that she would turn her friend in for just wanting to lead a different life. Shay enjoys the Smoke because she is with David and is free to be whoever she wants to be but Tally doesn’t seem to respect that and it angered me.
    3) When Tally sees Shay she talks to her and talks about why she came. “She took a deep breath, wondering why she was saying all this, lying to Shay when she didn’t really have to. She should just shut up, get to the Smoke, and get it over with. But Tally found herself continuing. ‘Then I realized I’d never see you again if I didn’t come. And I’d always wonder.’ That last part was true, at least” (Westerfeld 193). Tally is trying to cover the fact that she was sent here by the Special Circumstances. This quote proves that Tally does really care for Shay and that she was genuinely curious about the town and life she was always talking about before she left Uglyville. It proves that when it says, “‘Then I realized I’d never see you again if I didn’t come. And I’d always wonder.’ That last part was true, at least” (Westerfeld 193). She admits that she would always wonder about the town if she hadn’t come when she says that the last part was true.
    4) If I was Tally then I would probably end up staying at the Smoke and lead a life there instead of turning Shay and her friends in. I think that turning the citizens in would be wrong since they haven’t committed a crime, they’re just trying to lead a life where society is realistic. Not everyone should look the same or be judged based on their looks. They should be happy with the way they look because there is a beauty to difference and Tally just needs to learn to see that view.

Rebels created a mission and successfully got the people that were captive in the Capitol but Peeta is mentally messed up forever and hates Katniss. When Peeta was brought back District 13 and saw Katniss, he tried to strangle her to death because the Capitol drugged him so he thinks Katniss is evil and this makes me feel so bad for Peeta and Katniss because they been through so much.
"I can't stay here anymore' I say numbly.’If you want me to be the Mockingjay, you'll have to send me away.'
'Where do you want to go?' asks Haymitch.
‘The Capitol.’ It’s the only place I can think of where I have a job to do.”’ (Collins 191)
This dialogue is between Katniss, Plutarch (one of the rebel leaders), and Haymitch (mentor of Peeta and Katniss). Katniss has just witnessed Peeta going insane because of the Capitol drugging him and he is saying Katniss is evil and has to be killed. This makes Katniss so miserable and sad knowing that Peeta isn’t ever going to be the same and Katniss can’t do anything to help. Knowing this makes her want to get her revenge and kill Snow. This reveals that Katniss is a tough, brave warrior and will make people suffer if she has to prove a point and get revenge. Her saying that she can’t stay here anymore proves that she needs to do something to help and her saying she has to go to the Capitol proves that she is brave because she knows that she’ll probably be killed. If I put myself in Katniss's shoes, I would feel so miserable because Katniss has been through the most difficult life imaginable and right when something good happens (getting Peeta back), something awful happens that is going to be nearly impossible to recover from (she finds out that he wants to kill her). If I were Katniss right now I would probably have to do something to get this off my mind like how she's wants to go to District 2 to make them join the rebels.

  20. 1. June is currently in Republic custody. During her interrogation, she finds out all the details about Thomas, her brother’s murderer/friend, and her brother’s relationship. Afterwards, she is taken to a luxury apartment where she is contacted by the Patriots about remaining on the right side. She goes to a dinner to meet Anden, the elector. While she is there she is shocked that all of these places must have been recorded and Anden is trying to gain public support by showing how well Day’s savior is being treated. Soon after their dinner conversation, June realizes that everything she and Day were told is a lie. She makes a signal at the cameras hoping to get Day to realize something is wrong.
    2. I am surprised that June is so clever that she remembers the signal to stop that she and Day worked out in Vegas. This is a signal that is almost guaranteed to tell Day that something is wrong. I like June because she is a very logical person, but can be just as compassionate.
    3. “The people of the Republic assume that I’m their enemy. That I’m the same man my father was. That I don’t want this country to change. They think I’m an empty figurehead, a puppet who simply inherited a throne through my father’s will… No wonder he wanted to have this dinner with me. Something groundbreaking is stirring in Anden. And he needs me. He doesn’t have the people’s support, and he doesn’t have the Senate’s. He needs someone to win over the people for him. And the two people in the Republic with the most power over the people… are me and Day.” June is slowly realizing that she doesn’t want the Republic to be destroyed completely but changed. Right now Anden is calling for help and if he doesn’t get it there may never be another chance to reform the Republic. The dialogue is about the situation Anden is in and what he needs to fix it.
    4. If I were Day, I would be less jealous that June appears to be enjoying her time with the Elector and focus more on reinforcing his and Tess’s relationship. This is because Tess is almost a sister to him, but she loves him more than that. He needs to work out something like the relationship they had in the slums. He can’t let June break apart such a family, but he also can’t give up June.

In this section, the animals continue to work on the farm together. napoleon is the ultimate voice of all decisions and will brush off anyone else's suggestions. Animals occasionally fear that an owner will come to take over the farm again, these thoughts only further motivate the animals to achieve their goals. I was very surprised that when Snowball offered an intelligent suggestion to better harvest, Napoleon paid no attention to it and only declares his wanting to action, Napoleons recent actions have caused me to begin to dislike him. On page 43 Napoleon states "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. "said Napoleon. "But Napoleon that is not what the 7 commandments support." says Squealer. "Well I am the leader and I am saying this." says Napoleon. This quote shows how Napoleon, being a leader is already starting to credit himself more than the other animals that deserve just as much credit, if not more than he does. Napoleon saying this blatantly breaks number 3 on the 7 commandments that they created. Number 3 states that "all animals are equal to one another." Napoleon believes that just because he is the leader he is entitled to say and do whatever he desires to. This is unfair to the other animals and my spark a rebellion within Animal Farm. Napoleon is becoming a self absorbed corrupt leader. If I was Napoleon I would begin to listen to other animals suggestions for beneficial matters. I would also think about what impacts I would have on the community such as other animals possibly turning against me due to selfish actions.

    The Kill Order
    By: James Dashner

The camp that Mark and Trina were staying at was attacked and the people were shot with darts containing an unknown virus. The virus then began sweeping through the population and more people were becoming infected and dying. Mark is becoming more and more hardened and willing to whatever it takes for his survival. Mark, Trina, Alec and Lana were forced to leave most of their friends behind as to not risk infection. I like Mark because he reminds me a lot of myself and has similar traits to me. At the beginning of the book, Mark is motivated to do what he does out of friendship and survival. Mark said, “…we’ll do everything we can not to catch whatever it was that killed Darnell and the others.”(Dashner 63) Mark and his friends are trying to stay together while also looking out for their own lives. Even in the apocalyptic Earth, Mark is motivated by his friends. If I was a character in this book, once the virus began spreading in the camp, I would have left. I would have gone away by myself to stay away from the disease and preserve my own life.

    1. Katniss copes with Peeta’s love for her but doesn’t have long because soon the 74th annual hunger games begin. Peeta continuously saves Katniss from certain death and Katniss does her best to survive.
    2. Katniss is more fierce, brave, and intelligent than ever and one thing she did to show this was tying herself up in a tree in a sleeping bag to stay secure.
    3. “He made me look weak! I say. He made you look desirable says Haymitch. But we’re not star-crossed lovers! I say. She’s just worried about her boyfriend, says Peeta gruffly, tossing away a bloody piece of the urn. My cheeks burn again at the thought of Gale. I don’t have a boyfriend. Whatever, says Peeta. Besides, you didn’t say you loved me. So what does it matter? After he said he loved me, did you think I could love him, too? I ask Portia. (Collins 158-159) This dialogue shows Katniss’s beginning relationship with Peeta and she begins to question her feelings toward him. This also reveals how Katniss still cares about the people back home like Gale and strengthens the fact that they are her motivation to survive the games.
    4. If I were Katniss, I would have made allies which is one thing she did not do. I would do this because I know the importance of having allies because in any battle or war, people have allies and the hunger games are no exception so I see that as an important thing.

    Anthem by Ayn Rand
    1. Equality 7-2521 met up with the Golden one, Liberty 5-3000, again after inventing a new “revolutionary” light. They got sent to jail, and were lashed until they revealed where they had been, but they escaped, to go to the Council of Scholars; Equality 7-2521, want to be part of the Scholars very badly.
    2. I think it is really cool that the main characters are going to tell the Council of Scholars all the things they have done to invent the light, because they really want to get in, and their determination makes them very likeable.
    3. Equality 7-2521 said to the Golden One, “Such thoughts are forbidden,” (Rand 56), and the Golden One replied, “You wish us to think them,” (Rand 56), and Equality answered them with a yes. This shows that Equality thinks things that aren’t allowed in the society, and they aren’t very concerned about it, as long as it makes them happy. The character is willing to do many things, which are usually against the government, to reach happiness and things they want. “We will not tell you,” (Rand 63), was something Equality said to another group, so they wouldn’t have to give away their light invention. This lead to them getting whipped for a long time, almost a day, but they were willing to get whipped and escape, so that their knowledge isn't stolen; they are willing to do many things to get happiness as their outcome.
    4. If I were a character in the book, I wouldn’t tell the Council of Scholars about all the crimes Equality 7-2521 have committed because although they have created a very cool light that might be revolutionary, they might get in a lot of trouble, and not even get put into the Council of Scholars, which is their main goal. Telling the Council of Scholars will most likely lead them to even more trouble than they are in.

    1. So far the narrator was starring death right in the face when the machines leg was just feet away from Crushing his head. Word is now traveling throughout the country and London is about to be hit devastatingly
    2. While walking back to get to his family he was always astonished and almost looked forward to when Martians were near buy. He gets excited and is very curious.
    3. When talking to his brother the narrator said, “I was so excited by these heavy-minute guns following one another that I forgot my personal safety and my scalded hands,”(Wells 80). He’s similar to a kid watching an action movie. He likes the fighting and the battle sequences and is so caught up he forgets that his life is deeply in danger and almost had to pay the consequences. This provides more info on how curious he is about these Martians and what they really want from him and this world.
    4. I too love action movies, which is what he feels like he is in but there’s a line between fact and fiction. He is putting himself in danger and if I were him I would run and never look back.

1.Thomas, Minho, and Alby managed to survive their night in the Maze and now Thomas is getting a lot of credit for saving the boys. Also when Newt has Thomas remember things, Thomas goes to the girl and he starts hearing the girl talk to him.
2.I was the surprised when the girl started to talk to Thomas, but telepathically, because I knew Thomas had some connection with the girl, but I didn’t think it was that great of a connection.
3.“’No. Why? What did you hear?’
Thomas was scared to admit it. ‘I…I swear I heard a name. Teresa.’
‘Teresa? No, I didn’t hear that. Must’ve sprung loose from your bloody memory blocks!
That’s her name, Tommy. Teresa. Has to be.’” (Dashner 191). This dialogue is from when Thomas was explaining to Newt that he heard the name Teresa. This eventually escalated to Tommy figuring out the girl was talking to him telepathically. This shows that Tommy has a special connection with Teresa and there’s a reason why people have said they’ve seen both of them in the changing.
4.If I was Tommy and Teresa was talking to me telepathically I would try to respond to her. Tommy is such a curious character I don’t know why he didn’t want to listen to her because I would want to find out as much as possible.

Miranda and her family are trying to pretend that everything is okay. Her brother goes off to camp that gives him food he had to work for. She visits her friends that she hadnt been able to communicate with. Her father visited for a little bit and tried to convince them that everything was gonna be okay.
    2.
When Miranda realized that she had to stop eating as many meals so that they could have more supplies in case of whatever happens she changed her perspective a lot. She thought about how everyone needed more amounts of food and she stopped caring about herself. I appreciated when she did this because there was a problem going on in her family that they needed to work out and she didn’t think of herself, like she did earlier in the book.
    3.
Miranda and her friend Megan have an interesting relationship. Megan is very dedicated to church and believes theres a reason why everything is happening. Miranda questions why she would believe that and seriously worries about her. This relationship shows that Miranda is a caring person and that she worries about the people in her life.
    4.
If I was in Mirandas place I would be cautious about my friends and the safety of the people I cared about. With everything that was going on I would be very worried about whats going to happen.
    5.
The dialouge that was interesting to me was when she was talking with her friend Megan. Her friend Megan believed that god made all of this happen so it was her turn to go. Miranda couldn’t understand why she thought that and was very alarmed.
“But his will can’t be for you to starve to death.’ Why not?” Page 114
She was very concerned and after talking to her friend her point of view was changed.

1 Thomas was running from a griever and eventually was forced to dodge it and then Minho found him and said that he had a idea. They ran to a cliff and when the grievers were about to get there they dove to the side causing the grivers to fall of the cliff. Thomas and Minho were able to survive the night in the maze because of this maneuver and Thomas became a runner because of his actions.
2 When Thomas cried after he survived the night in the maze it made me like him more because it made him seem more human and not inert to feelings.
3 After Thomas survived a night in the maze with Minho he remembered that he had tied Alby up high on the wall. Minho didn't think that Alby would still be alive. “Minho looked down, his eyes dejected. ‘No way hes still alive.’ Thomas refused to believe it. ‘How do you know? Come on.’ (Dashner 141)” This proves that Thomas is optimistic.
4 If I was the character in the book I would have wanted to find out more about why the grievers disappeared over the cliff. It would have annoyed me to not know why the grievers were disappearing.

The main character ran away from the town as many people did and went into a lake to attempt and avoid the fires of the Martians. Once he escaped he joined a man on a boat and went to London.
    2. I was caught off guard when my character left his wife at home then ran away from the aliens because I thought he was a kind person who loved his wife but apparently he would rather let her die then him die himself.
    3. “Are we far from Sunbury?” “What do we do? Are there creatures everywhere?” “Are we far from Sunbury?” (Bradbury 189) This is a conversation between a recently awoken main character and a curate whose boat he is currently on. The main character is asking where they are and that is all he cares about so he continues to ask the one question despite the curate’s rhetorical questions. This shows that the character is not the most patient or polite person in the world and always wants to know the current situation that is happening around him no matter whose business it is. It also reveals that they have at least traveled far enough from Sunbury that it is no longer visible so they must be a decent distance off shore.
    4. If I was in my characters shoes I would be doing exactly what he did but I would take my wife. I believe that if you make a commitment through marriage it should mean more than just living with them, you should protect your spouse at all costs.

She is starting to process her feelings towards Ky, which is clearly breaking society rules because she is matched with Xander.

Katniss and Peeta pretend to be in love so that develop friendships with other competitors. The 74th annual Hunger Games are about to begin and Katniss survives the first day.
The Hunger Games have just begun and Katniss is having some trouble. She is not finding water and food easily. As of now, she only has a knife to fight with. She is on the look out for bow and arrows, because if she gets her hands on those, she can be very lethal. I was surprised when she went for all the supplies in the beginning of the Games because she could have died.
“Now I smile. ‘How;s everything with you?’ I call down cheerfully. This takes them aback, but i know the crowd will love it. ‘Well enough,’ says the boy from District 2. ‘Yourself?’ ‘It’s been a bit warm for my taste,’ I say. I can almost hear the laughter from the Capitol. ‘The air’s better up here. Why don’t you come on up.’ ‘Think i will,’ says the same boy,” (Collins 181-182). At this part of the novel, Katniss is trying to avoid the career tributes who are stronger and faster than them. To do this, she is trying to get in their head and be stronger than them. Katniss also tries to gain interest from the viewers which could help her gain sponsors who could provide medicine or supplies for her.
If i was in Katniss’ shoes, i would have run for the trees and avoided the bloodbath in the middle of the Games. I think i would do this because the point of the games is to survive and you need to find resources to do that.

During the night they go into the tunnel to try out stuff with the new electricity. They got caught and the council questions them, but they refuse to give away any information.Since they didn't say anything they get sent to a correctional facility and get beat until they share information about where they went. Very soon after they escape and tell the National Council what happened, but when the fact they are street sweepers gets out the people don't care anymore. they tell t equality 7-2521 that they have to destroy the box. If I was in Equality 7-2521 I would not have told the council. I would have kept everything to myself so only I knew the secret. " We forget all men, all laws and all things save our metals and our wires. So much is still to be learned! So long a road lies before us, and what care we if we must travel it alone," (Rand 54). I think this quote shows Equality 7-2521 determination is to understand more about the light and get other people to learn about it. They think that is valuable information and that other people should realize it as well; They want to be recognized as hero's for finding this powerful source of light.

    The Scorch Trials

In The Scorch Trial, by James Dashner, Thomas and the gladers are having a difficult time making it through the scorch trial. They are having less and less of food and water so the gladers are running out of energy they need to make it through the trial and face the cranks. Thomas and the gladers rest Jorge who is the leader of the cranks. He offers to help them make it through the trial after having threshing to kill Minho for making him look weak in front of the other cranks. We end the section with Thomas and brenda being attacked by cranks and Thomas killing one for the first time.
I was impressed with how Thomas worked and cooperated with Jorge to make sure there was no disagreements and bad blood between the two groups. I liked what Thomas did because it shows how he is maturing throughout the book and becoming a lot more of a good leader and role model for the other gladers.
When Jorge was angry with Minho and threatened to kill him Thomas stepped in, and found a way to make everyone calm down and not do anything drastic. "He made me look like a little girl in front of my people and that's not... Acceptable"(Jorge) "so punish him make him look like a little girl but killing him doesn't help us the more bodies we have that can fight the better our chances I mean you live here do I really need to tell you this."(Thomas) these lines show how good of a leader Thomas is becoming and how he is evolving into someone that cares for other but know how to handle a difficult situation without letting any chaos happen.
If I were in Thomas shoes I would try my best to be calm and try to work things out with Jorge so that if something was to happen we wouldn't all be at each other's throats. Thomas was very smart into finding a different way to handle the situation and kind of taking the high road and not encouraging the threats by allowing other gladers or himself threaten the cranks because they threatens Minho.

Thomas and Minho survives the night in the maze, with full of horrific adventures with the grievers, and make it back to the Glade. They also bring Alby back who’s been stung by the grievers and has to go through the changing. Thomas is invited to a “Gathering” with the keepers of the Glade. Thomas somehow manages to save Alby and himself from the grievers. I like this about him because it shows that he’s a caring person, he helps people even if they aren’t kind to him, like Alby. One important dialogue from this section is when Thomas tells Chuck they didn’t make it through the Maze only because of him, there was Minho’s part too. This reveals that Thomas is a person who doesn’t brag and doesn’t feel better than others. And that he likes to give credit to people who deserve it. The dialogue is located on page 148, when Thomas is back from the maze, and is resting. Chuck: “Oh gee, let me think. First, you go out in the Maze when you’re not supposed to, at night. Then you turn into some kind of freaky jungle dude, climbing vines and typing people up on walls.... are talking about.” Thomas: “Tricking them to over the Cliff was Minho’s idea, not mine.” If I were in Thomas’ shoes, I wouldn’t had been able to survive through the maze and come up with plans to not get killed by the Grievers.

    1. Tris has proved herself as strong and brave to the other initiates, even the Dauntless-born. She made it past the first stage of training, and is starting to fit in more with her faction despite her differences.
    2. As the week went on, Tris became much more confident than she was when she first arrived in Dauntless. She now sticks up for herself when people make fun of her instead of keeping quiet like people do in Abnegation, the faction she grew up in. I still like Tris because she is becoming more confident in herself which is making her more likable.
    3. After the first test of the second stage of training, which tests how well you can hide your fears, Tris and Four were talking after. Tris was crying because she was scared and wanted to go home to her original faction. “‘I want to go home,’ I say weakly,” (Roth 237). As much as Tris tries to push away her family and past life, she knows she still loves Abnegation and it is still apart of her. Four continued to talk about how they have to overcome their fears in order to be brave, and there was no turning back now. Although some of the bravest people are in Dauntless, they all still have fears like any other person would. This shows that Tris isn't fearless nor emotionless, like most people in Dauntless strive to be.
    4. If I was Tris, I would have tried to have done the same as she did during the simulation test. Before the hallucinations started, Four said the only way to make them stop is to get her heart rate down and to slow her breathing even though their greatest fear is in front of them. Tris remembered his advice when she was being attacked by the crows, so she focused on steadying her breathing to get out. If Four told me that, I would've attempted to do the same because I would also would want the hallucinations to stop as soon as possible.

    1) Tris begins to make progress in the eyes of the Dauntless trainers, both Four and Eric especially in her strategy in the annual capture the flag and win against Molly. A few days later, the initiates meet the day most of them have been waiting for, Visiting Day; at the end of the day the rankings are posted and Edward is stabbed in the eye at night by Peter and Drew due to jealousy of his first place rank.
    2) Tris is really growing in her courage but even regarding her growth I was really surprised when Tris took Al’s spot standing in front of the target while Four throws knives at her.
    3) “‘Mom, what’s going on?’ ‘Is this because I’m a-’ ‘Why?’ ‘I can’t say.’ ‘Not unless you explain some of this to me, Mom!’” (Roth 187). These are portions of a conversation between Tris and her mother on Visiting Day. Tris’ Mom brings her into a room that she hasn’t seen before and her Mom asks her what her aptitude test results were and the conversation begins to revolve around that. Throughout this conversation though, Tris is awfully lost. She is unsure of what exactly is going on. She is still unsure what Divergent means and how her mother knows so much about Dauntless. This shows that Tris is very clueless of what is going on and she wants to know more so she is prepared when she needs it but her Mom won’t provide the information.
    4) When Edward is stabbed in the eye by Peter and Drew, the lights are turned on and everyone sees Edward lying on the ground with a knife in his eye. Tris knew who it was but didn’t tell anyone because the people with authority wouldn’t care. If I were Tris I would have told Four because Tris and Four seem to have trust between them.

  42. In this section, Celia and Radley make it over the border, find shelter in an abandoned schoolhouse, and each day Radley ventures out to find some food and realizes that someone has been leaving them food and other provisions in a barn. Celia gets worse and worse each day, she can barely hold down the food she eats and becomes paler but her and Radley become closer friends as their staying in the schoolhouse. I was surprised when Radley, after seeing Celia’s health getting worse, said that maybe they should turn themselves in so that at least she could go see a doctor and I was surprised because Radley didn’t want to go to jail but she is sincerely concerned for Celia and I liked Radley better after reading this. A piece of dialogue is when Celia is telling Radley that the pictures her mother took were good and she liked the bear too and Radley realized that Celia must have gone through her things. She was mad because she would never do that to Celia but then she got over it. “I want to smack her. I want to scream at her. I want to go to my room and slam the door in her face. And then I look at the tiny two-room schoolhouse and the possibility that it might all collapse with the slam of a door. And I start to laugh. “My mom made the bear. Knitting’s a hobby of hers. She says it calms her. But the bear’s not mine. It’s just on loan from a friend.”” This shows that Radley has changed; she’s learned to accept what she’s got without throwing temper tantrums anymore. If I was in Radley’s shoes, I’d ask someone for help; maybe tell the person that’s leaving things for them in the barn about their situation. Even if Celia doesn’t want help, she needs it; they can’t survive for long off of what little Radley finds for them to eat.

1.) Lieutenant Blackburn has conducted an exercise throughout the Spire. Students are seeding viruses into each other’s neural processors to strengthen coding skills. Tom’s friend Wyatt has shown her strength while others like Tom are hammered with computer viruses.
2.) Tom has a conversation with one of his friends, Beemer who is having second thought about the neural processor in his brain, about life at the Spire and the opportunity they are given. Tom consoles Beemer which surprised me because I didn’t know Tom was sensitive to other people.
3.) At 47% Tom Raines talks to his friend Beemer about their neural processors. Beemer is scared and having seconds thought about the neural processor saying that it might kill him after he was beheaded in a simulation. He points out that no one at an old age has a neural processor hinting that it caused people to die. Tom tries to reassure Beemer using Lieutenant Blackburn as an example of someone at an older age with a neural processor. “Beemer: I thought this would be fun, Tom, okay? Coming to the spire, messing around with machines. But I didn’t think it through. I didn’t think about whether this is what I want. What if I die? Tom: But look at Blackburn. He got it sixteen years ago. Other than the acute psychotic break, he’s fine”. Tom is trying to convince Beemer that it is safe, but he also seems to be trying to convince himself, showing that he is scared.
4.) If I were in Tom’s shoes, I too would be scared. I think it would be scary having a computer in your brain that could affect your thoughts and behavior that was controlled by the government.

    Chapter 8-11
    Writing #3
New Peacekeepers are starting to enforce the rule much more strictly and more gallows and whipping posts are going up. To get away Katniss goes to the woods and finds out that rebellions have started in different districts and that refugees are going to district 13 which was thought to be destroyed. When Katniss throws herself in front of Gale while he is getting whipped, it shows again she just wants to protect her friends which is a reason I like her. In chapter 9 Peeta, Haymitch, and Katniss are talking outside so they can’t be spied on. They are talking about what they should do next and what their plan should be. Katniss says, “Gale is right. If people have the courage, this could be an opportunity,” (Collins) and “I want to start an uprising,” (Collins). shows that Katniss now is realizing that she wants to start an uprising as well as protect her family. If I was Katniss I would not have gone out into the woods. This is because the Peacekeepers were getting much more serious and it could put my friends and family in danger.

    1. In the story the bullies now control the town and all the kids must obey their laws. Also, some kids are turning 14 now, so they are disappearing like the adults and kids over 14 did in the beginning of the story.
    2. Sam is comforting to the twins when they are about to disappear on their 14th birthday. I like this character because he is kind to everyone and a good leader.
    3. Sam is involved in a conversation with the twins when they are about to disappear. When he sees them in the town center they tell him it is their birthday, Sam chases after them to warn them that they might disappear. They become scared of what will happen to them and Emma the older sister disappears without warning. Now that Anna knows she is going to disappear in six minutes she is very scared, but Sam comforts her. In the book Anna and Sam are talking, "'Am I going to die?' 'No, Anna. You're not going to die,'" (Grant 220). This specific line of dialogue shows that Sam is very kind and good at comforting people in times of extreme stress.
    4. If I were Sam when Anna was about to disappear I would not be able to comfort her because I would be to afraid of what would happen. Me being scared would just make her even more scared because I am her leader and I am supposed to be strong. I wouldn't be strong and probably say or do something to make her more scared like cry.

In this section the dauntless traitors decide to attack but not just anyone, they're looking for the divergent, which Tris and Tobias both are. Tris escapes death from the leader of Dauntless who is now a traitor too, ultimately saving a lot of peoples lives. When they have the time to sit back down and access the situation they soon realize that they were shot with a new simulation serum which can only mean that soon enough Eurodite is planning on controlling everyone once again. The section ends with Tris deciding that indeed they must ease drop in order to gather crucial information that could mean life or death. Now that Tris is starting to become a strong, independent woman who isn't going to deal with people underestimating her, I'm starting to like her a lot more. She saved a lot of people and very well could have died. At one part of the book she shows how independent she is during a conversation with Tobias. When he pushes her to believe that she did something wrong she fights back. She knows what she did helped save people even though she put her life in danger but Tobias just doesn't understand. They care about each other too much to understand sometimes. "You think you know whats best for me?You have no idea. I was going crazy with the Amity. Here i finally feel...sane again," Tris had said to try and defend her position but Tobias shot back with "Which is odd considering you're acting like a psychopath. It's not brave choosing the position you were in yesterday. It's beyond stupid- it's suicidal. Don't you have any regard for your own life?" This one hit Tris hard but she still wont back down."Of course I do!I was trying to do something useful!" She answered. As you can see Tris isn't going to back down. She knows she can survive this. If i was Tris at this point, i would be a little more cautious and think things through more but in a situation to save other peoples lives i would most likely act the same way she did, with whatever bravery possible.

In this section of the book, Thalia’s mom sends her to the rehab place against her will. While she is doing some exploring, a guard grabs her shoulder but it ends up being Basil who has come to rescue her. They make it out with some help and go to find Thalia’s friend Yaz who will help them. They have some trouble getting out of the mall but they head to a person Yaz knows that will change their appearance. After that they part ways with Yaz and steal a motorcycle and Basil ends up getting shot in the arm.

I was surprised when Basil rescued Thalia because he left the house so quick and even she thought that he was gone and that it was hopeless to get out. I am also surprised that Yaz was so willing to help them because she could get into a lot of trouble for it.

“I know then that i can’t wait for Basil to drive this thing so i throw my leg over the seat and scream, ‘Get on!’ over the sound of the first shot,” (Swain 189). This shows that Thalia is not afraid to take chances and cares about the people she loves because she took a chance to do something she has never done before to help Basil get out. She says how she can’t wait for Basil to get on so she has to do it herself.

If i were in Thalia’s shoes i would not have brought Yaz into the situation because she could also get into a lot of trouble for helping them get out. I know that she needed help but bringing Yaz into everything and breaking her car cost her a lot because how she is associated with them.

    1. In this section of the book Winston realizes that if anyone were to be able to revolt against the Party, it would have to be the Proles to do it. Winston envies the Proles free life and walks around a Prole district realizing that their freedom, combined with the Party’s brains, would be his ideal society.
    2. The main character finds direct proof that the Party was lying to them in an old photograph that he finds, and has to destroy, during his job. I like how this character is curious and thinks.
    3. Winston met an old man in a bar and they talk about what life used to be like. Montag says what he knows and the man would brighten up every so often at some words that Winston, such as top hat. Winston asks that man questions such as, “Do you feel you have more freedom now than you had in those days. Are you treated more like a human being?” Winston was frustrated by the old man’s answers because they were just useless facts and details. I think this shows that Winston is actually quite intelligent; he seems to want to learn more about the past.
    4. If I were Winston I would be acting the same way he is, I would want to know what life was like without the party and if it was better now.
